Tattooing

I utilise the old way of hand poking the ink. Slower, intentional, and gentler than machine tattoo, less traumatising for the skin, therefore heals quicker and is less painful.

While being quick for a hand poker, I employ great kindness and empathy in every session to ensure minimal skin damage and pain.

By setting clear intentions about letting go, how you would like the next part of your life to unfold becomes clear. How deep you wish to go is up to you - a simple tattoo experience, or going right in, your choice.

I use my background as a healer, counsellor, and witch to hold a safe space where transformation can occur. I make my own prayers and blessings and ask permissions from spirits of place before each tattoo. The wounds act as portals - heavy energies discharge. The design is imbued with meaning, but the act of breaking skin with intentional purpose brings cleansing and purification.

full day experience option:

A talk based therapy session to uncover old limiting stories that are running and beliefs that are holding you back, a physical burning ceremony where we burn away these old beliefs with resins and smudge, followed by an energy healing

We can then finish off the day with your tattoo if you would like. There is also the option without tattoo.

design:

The design can mean anything we make it mean, it is the tattoo itself that is the healing modality.

If you wish to have a design made for you; I love to do this - you share with me the images and symbols you love and I create something for you based on this in my own style. I will be doing this for the projects that feel resonant to me, I have made a commitment to create an experience that benefits the client on many levels, therefore I engage in the artworks that align for me also. Alternatively you can choose from my flash -these are designs I’ve drawn from my heart. For flash options, see the gallery below.

There are certain themes that I don’t tattoo, mainly because I don’t draw these things:

• Flowers

• Mandalas (I can totally do a cosmic dot version of mandalas in my own style - but they do not feature lines, only a constellation of dots, and I love to do these)

• Chandelier lace work

• Portraits

• Colour

• Feathers

I love to do:

Animals, mushrooms, Kodama forest spirits, cosmic circuitry, animal skulls, runes, Viking markings, eyes, insects, moons, patterns, symbols.

I would also ask that you have a look at my Instagram @mila_baba_yaga and be sure that my style is suitable - anything that I am asked to do will be done in my style.

I’m also happy to consider an art work or drawing that isn’t mine, I only request that if it is work by another artist that you have permission to recreate it, I will see if it can be done with the hand poke technique.

placement:

There are certain areas that do not work well for hand poke.

The areas I tattoo are:

Pricing:

I charge per piece, not per hour, this way you aren’t watching the clock and worrying. I’m happy to quote on your design before the day, feel free to ask.

I am here to provide a tattoo experience, which requires presence on the day, but it is not necessary to share personal private details of trauma with me unless you feel you something is deeply relevant. I am a highly sensitive person - not able to process the details of personal trauma every day.
